And already work is done to make the access road a real accesss road (and not just an adventure for drivers of high powered motorbikes). A Gawad Kalinga site is not just a physical project (house building, etc.). The Community building, the volunteering are important elements in the process. And these things are going on, behind the screens, all the time. Building the Houses of Phase 1 Congressman Prospero 'Butch' Pichay donated 1,000,000 pesos which means that we can start building! For the Semesteral Brake in October, we invite teams of 15/20 persons each to come and build houses. Details will be available soon and will be published on this site. On this page we will give you a regular update on the progress of the development of Jamboree Hills Village and Community. August 12, 2006 On this day a meeting is scheduled to inform Congressmaan Pichay and Governor Pimentel about the plans for Jamboree Hills Village. And of course we will ask them to support the initiative. For the meeting representatives of many organisations are invited: from the Mayors of the municipalities in the area to officials from National organisations like NEDA to staff memeebers of the Embassies of the UK and the Netherlands. And of course EastWest Seed Company was represented, they are our partners in setting-up a vegetable growing demonstration farm. The work has started already The house that functions as a logo on our site is thee first house on GK Jamboree Hills Village. It serves as a model house and is a landmark for the site; the house is very vissible for anyone driving along the National Road from Cantilan to carrascal. |
